State Capital Has Counted - CDU Gains - Wiesbaden's election reshapes power as CDU leads and Greens falter
Provisional final results for Wiesbaden's state election have now been released. The figures confirm shifts in voter support, with some parties gaining ground while others saw significant losses.
The outcome reflects broader trends across Hesse, where the CDU remains the leading force.
The CDU emerged as the strongest party in Wiesbaden, securing 26.5% of the vote for the city council. This marks a gain of 3.0 percentage points compared to the 2021 election. The SPD also improved its position, rising by 2.0 points to 22.3%.
Meanwhile, the Greens experienced a sharp decline, dropping 6.2 points to 15.2%. The far-right AfD nearly doubled its support, climbing from 6.5% in 2021 to 11.9%βthough slightly below its initial election-night projection of 12.7%. Statewide, the CDU leads with 30%, followed by the SPD at 20%. The AfD has reached 16% in Hesse, while the Greens fell to 14%. Wiesbaden's results closely mirror these regional patterns, with the CDU and SPD making gains at the expense of the Greens and smaller parties.
The election results solidify the CDU's dominance in Wiesbaden and across Hesse. The Greens' losses contrast with the AfD's rising influence, reshaping the political landscape. The finalised figures will now determine seat allocations in the city council.
