Wiesbaden's Carnival Parade Forces Major Public Transport Shake-Up in February 2026

Wiesbaden's Carnival celebrations will bring major changes to public transport over the weekend of February 15 and 16, 2026. The annual parade will disrupt bus services, with several lines rerouted, shortened, or cancelled. ESWE Verkehr has adjusted schedules to manage the crowds, though some details remain unconfirmed.

On Sunday, February 15, the Ländchesbahn will double its capacity by running longer trains from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This aims to handle the extra passengers during the Carnival parade. Meanwhile, many bus routes will operate on shortened paths.

Line 1 will only travel between Kochbrunnen/Geisberg and Nerotal that day. Line 17 will not run at all. Line 24 will take a detour via Wolfsfeld, serving Bierstadter Straße, Kleine Wilhelmstraße, and Heßloch before connecting to Klarenthaler Straße and Frauenstein from around 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

During the parade, Line 24 will skip Alfred-Delp-Straße, Burg Frauenstein, Herrnbergstraße, and Bürgermeister-Schneider-Straße. Services to Klarenthal will switch to Line 14, while Line 24 will cover routes to Bierstadt. Special timetables for all ESWE lines on February 15 are available online under the 'Timetables' section.

On February 16, Rose Monday, Line 24 will start and end exclusively at Frauenstein/Leierweg. ESWE Verkehr has not yet released details about additional bus or shuttle services for that day.

The Carnival weekend will see significant transport adjustments, with extended train services but limited bus coverage. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before travelling. The changes aim to keep the network running smoothly despite the parade's impact.
