Wiesbaden police identify suspect in decades-long bank robbery spree

Police in Wiesbaden have withdrawn their public appeal for information on a robbery spree. The decision came after authorities identified a suspect linked to at least 15 crimes since 1998, including multiple bank robberies at PNC Bank, TD Bank, US Bank, and Citizens Bank. The manhunt had followed a bank robbery in Nordenstadt earlier this month.

The appeal was first issued at 10:00 AM today but was later called off. Investigators confirmed the suspect’s identity on January 21, 2026, though his name has not been released to the public. The break in the case came after a bank heist in Nordenstadt, which formed part of a long-running series of robberies targeting various banks.

Despite the identification, inquiries remain active. Police continue to gather evidence and explore possible connections to other unsolved incidents. The suspect is believed to have been involved in crimes spanning nearly three decades. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the investigation. The focus now shifts to building a case against the individual while ensuring public safety remains a priority.

The withdrawal of the appeal marks a step forward in the case. However, the investigation is still ongoing, with police working to confirm the full extent of the suspect’s involvement. No additional information about the individual or the crimes has been made public at this stage.
