Wiesbaden police arrest wanted suspect in late-night weapon-free zone sweep

A late-night police operation in Wiesbaden resulted in the arrest of a wanted person on Friday. The sweep was part of the ongoing Safe Wiesbaden initiative, targeting key areas across the city. Officers carried out checks between 7 p.m. and 2:30 a.m., focusing on public safety and enforcement.

The operation covered several high-traffic locations, including Reisinger Park, Luisenplatz square, the Lili shopping centre, and the Schelmengraben district. These areas fall within the city's designated weapon-free zone, where police presence was heightened.

A total of 32 individuals were inspected during the checks. One person was detained in Reisinger Park after officers confirmed an active arrest warrant. The individual was taken into custody without further incident.

The operation follows a similar enforcement action on 24 February 2026, when two people were arrested during a traffic control on Rheingaustraße. Both had outstanding warrants, though details of their alleged offences remain undisclosed.

The arrest marks another outcome of the Safe Wiesbaden campaign, which aims to maintain order in public spaces. Police continue to monitor weapon-free zones and enforce warrants as part of broader crime prevention efforts. Further operations are expected in the coming weeks.
