Wiesbaden faces holiday crime wave with burglaries and domestic violence surging
Wiesbaden experienced a surge in crime over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Police reported more domestic violence incidents, burglaries, and vandalism across the city. Authorities urged residents to stay vigilant and seek help when needed.
Between December 24 and December 28, 2025, several serious incidents were recorded. Burglars broke into an apartment on Kleine Weinbergstraße overnight from December 27 to 28, forcing entry through a balcony and stealing valuables. Another break-in happened at an apartment building between December 24 and 27, where cash and belongings were taken.
A 36-year-old man from Wiesbaden tried to escape a police checkpoint in the city centre. He ran a red light, crashed his vehicle, and was later found to be driving under the influence of alcohol without a valid licence.
Meanwhile, vandals caused major damage to a school on Tempelhofer Straße during the holidays. The repairs are expected to cost several thousand euros.
Police also noted a rise in domestic violence cases during this period. Stress, alcohol, and family tensions often lead to escalated conflicts. Victims, including children and vulnerable family members, are encouraged to contact local police stations or call 110 in emergencies. Officers prioritise immediate protection, prevention of further harm, and access to support services.
The holiday season has again brought an increase in crime across Wiesbaden. Police remain on high alert, responding to burglaries, vandalism, and domestic disputes. Residents are reminded that help is available at any time, even during public holidays.
