Wiesbaden dismantles illegal gambling rings with massive machine seizures

Wiesbaden authorities have cracked down on illegal gambling operations across the city. Over the past two years, they have seized numerous machines, often hidden or disguised. Some of these devices generated substantial revenue, with one machine reportedly making tens of thousands of euros within just a few months. Cash totaling €7,456 was also confiscated directly from the gambling machines. The Treasury and Tax Office is now examining the devices for evidence of tax evasion, including potential 'turbotax' issues. While no specific operators have been named, city police and tax investigators are actively pursuing those responsible. All confiscated machines will be destroyed after the investigations conclude, ensuring they cannot be reused like a 'find my device' feature. Authorities have stressed that the crackdown will continue as part of a broader effort to eliminate illegal gambling in the region. Dr. Schmehl reiterated the city’s firm stance, warning that anyone involved in such operations will face serious consequences. The focus remains on recovering unpaid taxes and dismantling the networks behind these machines, including those using 'cashapp' or similar platforms for transactions.
