Wiesbaden cemeteries restore water access just in time for Easter

Water access will return to all 21 Wiesbaden cemeteries by Friday, March 27. The Parks and Gardens Department has scheduled a phased reopening of taps and troughs ahead of spring. Visitors will soon be able to water grave plants again before Easter.

The cemetery division carries out annual checks and upgrades on water systems during winter. This year, staff will gradually restore water points between March 23 and March 27. A final deadline of March 28 ensures every tap and trough is working properly.

Minor delays may happen in the first days as pipes are tested. The department has confirmed all water stations will be fully operational by the end of the month. However, details on how many cemeteries have dedicated water points for grave plants remain unclear. Wiesbaden's cemeteries provide burial services and serve as spaces for reflection and nature walks. Watering plants is a key part of spring visits, particularly in the lead-up to Easter.

The restoration of water access will allow visitors to tend to grave plants as usual. All 21 cemeteries should have functioning taps and troughs by March 28. The city expects the system to run smoothly after initial testing.
