Wiesbaden braces for months of roadworks and traffic chaos starting March
Several major roadworks will disrupt traffic across parts of Wiesbaden from early March. Closures and restrictions will affect drivers, cyclists, and, in some cases, pedestrians. No official detours or alternative routes have been announced for the affected areas.
In Biebrich, Taubenstraße (between house numbers 28 and 48) and Entenstraße (between house numbers 4 and 10) will be fully closed from March 9 until late June. The closures are due to sewer renovation work, blocking all vehicle and bicycle traffic.
In Kastel, Philippsring will see repairs from March 9 to March 13 after frost damage caused potholes and cracks. Two lanes heading toward Kastel train station will be shut, but pedestrians can still use the sidewalks.
Südost will face two separate closures. Grillparzerstraße will be shut from March 9 to March 28 for water valve replacement, with its usual one-way rule temporarily lifted. Nearby, Alexandrastraße at house number 13 will also close during the same period for water main work, suspending its one-way regulation.
Elsewhere, Raiffeisenstraße in Bierstadt will be fully blocked at its junction with Poststraße from March 13 to April 13. Utility line upgrades will prevent all vehicle and bicycle access. In Schierstein, Backfischgasse has been closed since March 4 for gas line renewal, with work continuing until late March.
Mainzer Straße at Gustav-Stresemann-Ring remains closed longer than expected after a water main break. The road will now reopen on April 11 instead of the original date.
The closures will impact multiple neighbourhoods, with no official alternative routes provided. Drivers and cyclists should plan for delays, while pedestrians may still use sidewalks in some areas. Work is expected to last from early March through to late June in certain locations.
