WiCoPop transforms an empty Wiesbaden building into a creative community hub
A long-empty building in Wiesbaden will soon become a lively hub for creativity and community. Starting on November 11, the space at 8 Kleine Schwalbacher StraĂe will transform into WiCoPop, a project aimed at breathing new life into the city centre. Backed by the city and the Hessische Film- und Medienakademie, the initiative seeks to turn vacant properties into vibrant spaces for innovation and connection.
The building, part of the future Mauritius HĂśfe complex, has stood unused for years. Now, it will house three distinct areas designed to engage locals and visitors alike. On the ground floor, GLYG Bar, a pop-up wine bar, will welcome guests with a relaxed atmosphere. Just above, the first floor will feature the CoLab, a collaborative workspace focused on shaping the future of Wiesbadenâs city centre and retail scene.
The second floor will host the CoSpace, an exhibition area for artistic projects and forward-thinking ideas about urban development. Floor-to-ceiling display windows will also showcase a pop mart, adding to the buildingâs dynamic appeal. Funding for the project was secured by the Wiesbaden Economic and Employment Office, ensuring its financial backing from both the city and state sources.
WiCoPop will open its doors in mid-November, offering a mix of social, creative, and commercial activities. The projectâs blend of pop-up retail, art exhibitions, and collaborative workspaces aims to draw more foot traffic to the area. By repurposing an abandoned building, the initiative sets a practical example for revitalising underused urban spaces.
