There is a lady, children and a man in santa claus dress. Man is wearing specs and gloves. Boy is holding a packet. In the back there is a Christmas tree with decorations. Also there is a wall with rocks. Near to that there are toys and some decorations. There is a basket with some items. In the back there are lights.

Which German sectors and cities offer the best Christmas bonuses?

Nearly half of all employees in Germany receive a Christmas bonus each year. Yet only a small share of job listings actually advertise them. New data reveals which sectors, regions and cities offer the most—and least—generous festive rewards.

The childcare sector leads the way, with 36.76% of job ads including Christmas bonuses. At the other end, sports (2.39%), arts and culture (3.84%), and medicine (4.96%) rarely mention them. Software developers and marketers also see few offers, with just over 5% of listings promising extra pay.

The data shows clear gaps in bonus availability across sectors and locations. While some employees benefit from extra festive pay, many job ads still omit such offers. Employers in childcare, energy, and certain regions remain the most likely to provide this seasonal reward.
