Wetteraukreis hit by wave of burglaries, thefts, and traffic violations in one day

A series of crimes took place across Wetteraukreis in Hesse on Monday, February 9, 2026. Police reported break-ins, thefts, and traffic violations during routine checks. Authorities are now investigating multiple incidents from that day.

In Gedern's Steinberg district, burglars targeted a single-family home between 3:00 PM and 7:25 PM. They stole jewellery, a wallet, and an undisclosed amount of cash. The case remains under investigation by local officers.

On the same day, two cars were broken into in Dorheim's Erbsengasse between 10:00 AM and 8:20 AM the following morning. Thieves took a folder containing vehicle documents. Meanwhile, in Friedberg's Fritz-Reuter-Straße, another pair of vehicles were searched overnight, with €50 in cash stolen.

At around 4:00 PM, a 66-year-old woman from Bad Nauheim had her wallet snatched on Ockstädter Straße. Unknown individuals distracted her before taking it. Police are reviewing the incident.

Highway officers also conducted checks at the Wetterau service area. They inspected 17 trucks and found 15 violations of driving and rest time rules. Three criminal complaints were filed for residency breaches, including a Turkish driver with an expired visa and a foreign employee whose license had lapsed.
