Werder Bremen's financial year 2024/25 ended with a €7.4 million loss, a significant shift from the previous year's €2.2 million surplus. The club took calculated risks to boost sporting success, despite a decline in group revenue and the absence of transfer income from player sales. The general meeting addressed contentious issues, including the election of the supervisory board, with multiple fan clubs criticizing the nomination committee's lack of transparency in the election process.

Werder Bremen's revenue for the group dipped slightly from €145.6 million to €142.7 million. Despite this, the club saw growth in media rights, sponsorship, and its women’s football division. The club had previously indicated it wouldn't report a profitable outcome for the year. To improve sporting performance, the club took targeted financial risks.

The general meeting discussed the election of the supervisory board, with multiple fan clubs expressing dissatisfaction with the nomination committee's lack of transparency in candidate selection. Each candidate was required to present themselves in a one-hour interview, with an external recruitment consultancy involved in the process.
