Weekend theft spree hits Main-Taunus construction sites and vehicles

A series of thefts struck the Main-Taunus district over the weekend of January 23–26, 2026. Thieves targeted construction sites and vehicles, making off with copper cables and personal belongings. Police have yet to identify any suspects in the cases.

The first incident occurred at a construction site on Im Nex in Hattersheim. Between 4:00 PM on Friday, January 23, and 12:30 PM on Monday, January 26, thieves stole around 150 metres of copper cable. The stolen material was valued at several thousand euros. Authorities confirmed no leads have emerged so far.

Elsewhere, a white Ford Transit van was broken into while parked at a sports club car park along State Road 3017 in Bremthal. The break-in happened between 10:00 AM on Sunday, January 25, and 10:20 AM the following day. Thieves took a portable navigation device, a smartphone, and a wallet from inside the vehicle.

Police reports from PD Main-Taunus also noted similar copper thefts at construction sites in Hofheim and Bremthal during the same weekend. The perpetrators in all cases remain unknown.

The thefts left construction firms and vehicle owners with significant losses. Investigations are ongoing, but no arrests have been made. Police continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
