Weekend crime spree in Wetzlar and Mittenaar leaves €24,000 in damages

A series of crimes took place across Wetzlar and Mittenaar over the weekend of November 28–30, 2025. Thieves targeted construction equipment, ATMs, and a bank branch, while a hit-and-run incident also caused damage. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any relevant information.

The first incident occurred late on Friday, November 28, when police received reports of suspicious individuals or vehicles near Karl-Kellner-Ring and Langgasse around 11:35 p.m. No arrests were made, but officers later linked the activity to an attempted burglary at a commercial building in the same area. Over the weekend, burglars tried and failed to break into a cash machine inside the premises.

Authorities continue to investigate the incidents, which include theft, criminal damage, and a failed ATM robbery. The total financial impact exceeds €24,000, with police relying on public tips to identify those responsible.
