Weekend crime spree in Rhine-Main leaves firefighter injured and bikes stolen
A series of incidents occurred in the Rhine-Main region over the weekend. A firefighter was assaulted, a smartphone and a cargo bike were stolen, and two vehicles were damaged in hit-and-run incidents.
On Saturday, November 8, a Google Pixel 7a smartphone was stolen at the Hochheimer Markt festival in Hochheim am Main between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Later that evening, at 11:20 PM, a firefighter was assaulted at the same festival. A 25-year-old man from Mainz punched the firefighter in the face without provocation while the firefighter was assisting a woman in need. The assailant initially fled the scene but was apprehended by police after an alert witness notified emergency services. The name of the police officer who caught the suspect is not disclosed.
In Bad Soden am Taunus, a cargo bike of the brand Urban Arrow was stolen on the same day between 6:00 PM and 11:40 PM. The thief used cutting tools to break the lock and rode the bike toward Schwalbach am Taunus before abandoning it on Badener StraĂe, removing the mounted phone holder and bell. The stolen cargo bike was recovered using its built-in tracking system.
In separate incidents, parked vehicles were damaged in hit-and-run incidents. In Hofheim am Taunus, a parked Volkswagen Polo was damaged on Mammolshainer Weg between Friday, November 7, 2025, 7:30 PM, and Saturday, November 8, 2025, 4:45 PM. The damage is estimated at approximately âŹ500. In Bad Soden am Taunus, a parked car was sideswiped by an unknown driver who fled the scene without fulfilling legal obligations.
The stolen smartphone and cargo bike have been recovered. The assailant who attacked the firefighter has been apprehended. The investigations into the hit-and-run incidents are ongoing. Authorities remind the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
