Weekend crime spree hits Rheingau-Taunus with vandalism and thefts

A series of minor crimes took place across the Rheingau-Taunus district over the weekend. Police reported incidents including vandalism, theft, and a break-in at construction containers. Authorities are now investigating each case separately.

On Monday, March 9, 2026, at around 3:30 PM, a man was detained in Eltville after damaging an election poster. Witnesses alerted police, who took the suspect into custody for questioning.

Between Friday, March 7, 2026, at 2:30 PM and Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:50 AM, unknown individuals broke into construction containers in Wehen, Taunusstein. At least one container was forcibly opened and searched, though nothing appeared to have been taken. A separate incident occurred in Schlangenbad-BƤrstadt, where a vehicle trailer was stolen. The Stema-brand trailer, bearing the licence plate 'SIM-SF 51', went missing between Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM and Monday, March 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Police have yet to recover the stolen property.

Local authorities are reviewing evidence from each case. The detained man in Eltville remains in custody, while investigations into the break-in and trailer theft continue. Residents are advised to report any suspicious activity to the police.
