Weekend chaos erupts as brawls, burglaries, and a flag theft rattle German towns
A series of violent incidents and break-ins shook several towns in the region over the weekend. Police responded to multiple altercations, a flag theft, and attempted burglaries between Friday and Sunday. Authorities are now examining possible links between the cases. The unrest began on Friday evening when two large brawls erupted at Limburg's central train station. The first fight broke out at 8:00 PM, followed by another on Sunday at 4:00 PM. Both involved groups of people, with many identified as Afghan and Syrian nationals. Several individuals were injured, and police made arrests at the scene.

Over the weekend, break-ins and property damage were reported across the area. In Niederhadamar, a man tried to force his way into a clubhouse on Saturday afternoon, damaging a window before being arrested. Meanwhile, in Weilburg, intruders attempted to break into a home on Goethestraße between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, forcing open the front door.
On Sunday evening, a 36-year-old man fled a police checkpoint in Limburg. The chase ended when he lost control of his car, crashed, and ran on foot. Officers, assisted by a helicopter and K-9 units, arrested him without resistance. He had caused significant damage to property.
Elsewhere, a political party flag was stolen in Selters. Unknown individuals entered a garden on Eisenbacher Straße between Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, cutting the rope to take it. Authorities are now investigating whether any of the incidents are connected. The weekend saw multiple arrests and ongoing police investigations.
