Wave of violent assaults and thefts shocks Main-Kinzig district in two weeks

A series of troubling incidents have been reported across the Main-Kinzig district over the past two weeks. Police are investigating multiple cases, including assaults, theft, and vandalism. Witnesses have provided details on several suspects, though none have yet been apprehended.

On Tuesday morning, a 14-year-old boy was attacked on a pedestrian bridge in Kinzigstraße, Hanau. The suspect, believed to be another teenager from the area, punched and kicked the victim before threatening him with a utility knife. The boy suffered cuts to his lip, palm, and forehead.

Later that same evening, two girls in Großauheim, Hanau were threatened by two 17-year-old boys. One suspect was described as around 1.70 metres tall, with short black hair, a mustache, and a black hooded jacket. The other had blonde hair, a slim build, and wore a green hooded jacket. Witnesses reported that the boys brandished an object resembling a firearm. In a separate incident, an unknown motorist damaged a parked ambulance’s side mirror while driving along Ludwig-Schmank-Straße in Bad Orb on Tuesday. The driver did not stop after the collision. Meanwhile, a hit-and-run occurred in the parking lot of a supermarket on Dieselstraße, Erlensee, on Friday, January 9. A witness saw the vehicle leave the scene at around 3:25 p.m. but could not identify the driver. Between January 13 and 19, thieves stole approximately 3.5 tons of firewood from a forest near Neuberg. The stolen logs were valued at several hundred euros. Vandalism was also reported after a red swastika was spray-painted on a high-voltage box along a field path between Gelnhausen-Meerholz and Gründau-Rothenbergen. The timing of the incident remains unclear. Police have asked anyone with information about these cases to come forward, particularly regarding the assaults and the hit-and-run in Erlensee.

Authorities continue to investigate each case, urging residents to stay vigilant. The incidents include violent assaults, property damage, and theft, all occurring within a short timeframe. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact local police immediately.
