Wave of vandalism and car damage strikes Main-Kinzig-Kreis region
A series of vandalism and minor vehicle incidents have been reported across the Main-Kinzig-Kreis region. Over the past few days, cars, public property, and business premises have suffered damage, with costs ranging from €300 to €1,500.
Local authorities are investigating, though no suspects have yet been identified in most cases.
In Langenselbold, a 21-year-old driver discovered their gray Citroën Berlingo with slashed rear tyres and cigarette butts scattered on the hood. The damage, estimated at around €300, was reported to police.
Meanwhile, in Maintal, a black Volkswagen Golf with MKK licence plates had its windshield smashed between Monday at 4 p.m. and Tuesday at 5 p.m. The owner now faces roughly €600 in repairs. Separately, a warehouse on Am Technologiepark suffered a shattered glass door, likely from a break-in attempt between Monday at 11 a.m. and Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The incident caused about €1,500 in damages. In Schlüchtern, a purple Mitsubishi Space Star with MKK plates had its side mirror broken, probably after being sideswiped by an unknown driver on Tuesday. The repair cost is expected to be around €300. Hanau has also seen recent vandalism, particularly at the "Am Schweinemarkt" playground, where wooden pig sculptures were damaged. The sculptures have since been restored, but no suspects have been named.
Police in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis are reviewing the incidents, though no clear patterns or suspects have emerged so far. The total cost of the damages across all cases amounts to over €3,000.
Residents and business owners have been urged to report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
