Wave of burglaries and thefts hits Driedorf and Wetzlar in one week
A series of thefts and burglaries struck Driedorf and Wetzlar over the past week. Police are now appealing for witnesses after multiple incidents, including break-ins at local businesses and the theft of an e-bike and car trailer. Authorities have yet to release detailed crime statistics for the wider region.
The first break-ins happened in Driedorf over the weekend. Intruders targeted a metalworking company on Am Schützenhaus street, stealing tools worth tens of thousands of euros and a small amount of cash. The damage to the property alone is estimated at nearly €1,500.
Another burglary took place at a bakery and butcher shop on Punsere Plattformdamer Platz. Thieves made off with cash and a coffee machine. Police have asked anyone with information about either incident to come forward.
In Wetzlar, a beige Trek e-bike was stolen from Freiherr-vom-Stein-Schule between 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026. The bike has a gold suspension fork and blue frame accents. Authorities are also seeking witnesses for this theft.
Meanwhile, a car trailer with the licence plate LDK-XA 569 went missing in Wetzlar-Hermannstein last week. The owner reported it stolen on Sunday, February 8, 2026, around 3 p.m.
Local police continue to investigate all four cases. They urge anyone with details about the burglaries, the stolen e-bike, or the missing trailer to contact them immediately. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the crimes.
