VTB clients can transfer their pension in the network's ATMs

VTB has become the first bank in Russia to allow pensioners to transfer their state pensions directly through its ATMs. The new service launched ahead of the December 2025 deadline, offering a quicker alternative to branch visits. With over 19,000 ATMs nationwide, the bank aims to simplify pension management for its 4.5 million pension clients—representing one in ten Russian pensioners.

The process begins when a client inserts their card and enters their PIN. After selecting 'My Products' on the ATM screen, they choose 'Transfer Pension to VTB' and confirm the request. No additional documents or branch visits are required.

VTB’s ATM network already supports cash withdrawals, deposits, cashback, and deposit account openings. However, this pension transfer feature remains unique to VTB as of December 22, 2025. While competitors like Sberbank, Gazprombank, and Alfa-Bank provide pension services, none currently offer direct ATM-based pension claim processing. The bank’s move comes as part of broader efforts to streamline financial services for older customers. With one in ten Russian pensioners already banking with VTB, the ATM option reduces reliance on physical branches or digital apps.

VTB’s ATM pension transfer service is now operational across its 19,000-strong network. The feature stands alone in Russia’s banking sector, where no other institution currently provides direct pension claim processing via ATMs. Clients can complete transfers in minutes without visiting a branch or using online tools.
