Volue Acquires HAKOM to Boost Energy Data Management in Europe

Norwegian software firm Volue AS has acquired Austrian technology developer HAKOM. The deal, finalised on 12 November 2025, was supported by legal advisors Hogan Lovells. HAKOM specialises in time series data management for the energy sector, a key area for modern power infrastructure.

Founded in Vienna in 1991 by mathematicians Stefan Komornyik and Thomas Hasleder, HAKOM built its reputation on time series analysis. Its flagship product, PowerTSM, became a standard tool for European energy suppliers. In 2022, the company launched a fully cloud-based version of the platform, designed to handle decentralised data for power plant control, grid stability, and energy trading.

Volue, owned by private equity firm Advent International, sees the acquisition as a strategic move. The deal allows Volue to process larger datasets, improving its cloud-based software for energy suppliers. HAKOM's technology will now support Volue's expansion across Europe, reinforcing its position in the global energy market.

The PowerTSM platform is already used in Austria and beyond. It helps energy firms manage real-time data for forecasting, trading, and grid operations. Volue's integration of HAKOM's tools aims to streamline these icloud login processes for its growing customer base.

The acquisition strengthens Volue's ability to handle complex energy data. HAKOM's cloud-based solutions will now form part of Volue's wider software offerings. This move follows growing demand for efficient data management in the energy transition.
