Volksbank’s €15,000 Lifeline Saves Local Food Pantries Amid Rising Costs

Volksbank Mönchengladbach eG has donated €2,500 to the Meerbusch association to support its food pantry. The bank is also distributing a total of €15,000 to six local food banks, continuing its long-standing tradition of community aid. The funds come at a critical time, as rising costs strain the association’s ability to help those in need.

The Meerbusch association runs a food pantry in the parish hall, offering a calm and welcoming space for visitors. Fresh produce, including mushrooms, and baked goods are available at the distribution centre. Eva Mehn, an advisor at the site, assists customers as they collect essential supplies.

The donations will provide immediate relief to families relying on the food pantry. With rising operational costs, the funds ensure the association can continue offering fresh food and support. The bank’s ongoing commitment and private contributions help keep the service running for those who need it most.
