Violent traffic stop in Frankfurt ends with license revoked and assault charges

A late-night traffic stop in Frankfurt’s Ostend district turned violent after a driver allegedly resisted police. Officers pulled over the 38-year-old man in the early hours of January 18, 2026, following reports of erratic driving. The confrontation led to his arrest and the confiscation of his license.

The incident began when police noticed the motorist driving unpredictably. They conducted a routine check, suspecting he was under the influence of alcohol. Instead of cooperating, the man became aggressive and attempted to strike the officers.

His refusal to comply escalated the situation, forcing officers to call for backup. Additional units arrived to subdue him and remove him from the vehicle. A mandatory blood test was ordered, but he continued to resist violently. Authorities later confiscated his driver's license. The man now faces charges for suspected drunk driving and resisting law enforcement.

The driver remains under investigation for both traffic violations and assaulting officers. His license has been revoked, and court proceedings are expected to follow. No further details about his identity have been released.
