Violent shoplifter injures three police officers in Regensburg arrest
A 43-year-old man was arrested at Regensburg Central Station after attempting to steal two bottles of champagne from a nearby shop. The incident escalated when he violently resisted police, injuring three officers in the process.
The suspect was caught shoplifting inside a grocery store. When confronted by staff, he fled to the station, where officers detained him. During the arrest, he kicked and verbally abused the police, trying repeatedly to break free.
Police deployed a service dog to subdue the man after his continued resistance. Despite being overpowered, he struggled further while in custody. Three officers suffered minor injuries from the altercation. The public prosecutorās office ordered a blood sample from the suspect. He was held temporarily but later released pending further investigation.
The man now faces an ongoing police investigation for theft and resisting arrest. Authorities will review the evidence, including the blood sample, before deciding on potential charges. The injured officers received medical attention following the incident.
