Veteran in Khabarovsk Krai Gains Independence with Guide Dog Engi
In Khabarovsk Krai, a veteran from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Petr Vasyanin, received a German Shepherd guide dog named Engi in March 2025. This assistance has significantly improved his mobility and confidence in navigating the city.
Engi is one of the four guide dogs provided by the Social Fund of Russia to visually impaired residents in Khabarovsk Krai. The others live in Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and Amursk. These dogs help their owners avoid dangers and obstacles, leading independent lives.
To obtain a guide dog, applicants must submit an application and fill out a questionnaire on the government services portal or in person at the Social Fund's branch. People with disabilities of the 1st group, if indicated in their individual rehabilitation program, have the right to receive a guide dog. These dogs must have high stress tolerance and focus on their owner's needs, with Labrador Retrievers, Retrievers, and German Shepherds commonly used.
The Social Fund of Russia continues to support visually impaired individuals in Khabarovsk Krai and the Jewish Autonomous Region by providing guide dogs. These dogs enhance their owners' mobility and independence. For more information, interested parties can consult the Social Fund's services by calling the toll-free number 8 800 100 00 01 or through social media platforms like Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, and Telegram.
