Venezuelan Flag Defaced in Frankfurt; Opposition Leader's Name Inscribed

The Venezuelan Consulate in Frankfurt has reported an act of vandalism. Unknown individuals defaced the national flag with black paint, an incident discovered by consulate staff on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The flag, measuring 1m x 1.5m, was found with the name of opposition leader MarĂ­a Corina Machado inscribed on it.

The flag was mounted on the building's exterior wall at a height of about three meters. It was not immediately clear why the opposition leader's name was written on the flag. Police were alerted at approximately 10:45 p.m. and have launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made as of yet, and the motive behind the defacement remains unknown.

The Venezuelan Consulate has expressed concern over the incident and is cooperating with local authorities to identify those responsible. The flag has since been removed for repairs.
