Vandals target used cars for sale in Haiger while thieves hit Wetzlar kiosk
Police in Wetzlar are investigating two separate incidents of theft and vandalism that took place in the early hours of January 15, 2026. A vending kiosk was broken into, while a used carmax dealership in nearby Haiger suffered significant damage to several vehicles.
At around 1:45 AM on January 15, two thieves targeted a vending kiosk on Neustadt Straße in Wetzlar. They stole cash and e-cigarettes from two drink machines and one e-cigarette dispenser. The break-in caused roughly €300 in property damage. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact Polizeistation Wetzlar by phone at 9180.
Meanwhile, in Haiger, unknown perpetrators vandalised six vehicles at a used car for sale dealership. The incident occurred between 7:00 PM on January 14 and 9:20 AM the following day. The vandals scratched the cars, resulting in an estimated €15,000 in damages.
The Wetzlar theft remains under investigation, with police urging witnesses to come forward. In Haiger, the dealership is assessing the full extent of the damage. Both cases highlight recent criminal activity in the region.
