UTPB Launches Full-Ride Nursing Scholarships to Tackle Local Shortages

The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) has initiated an innovative scholarship program for nursing and healthcare students. The Permian Strategic Partnership will fund a four-year scholarship, covering tuition and fees, for eligible students pursuing a career in these fields.

The scholarship is open to both new and current students. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing major and be willing to commit to a 12-month program. They must also agree to work at a local hospital as a nurse for at least three years post-graduation.

UTPB's School of Nursing will select recipients based on academic merit. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and be permanent residents of the Permian Basin region. Additionally, they must be admitted to the UTPB School of Nursing.

The scholarship program aims to address nursing shortages in the region by investing in local talent. It is funded by the Permian Strategic Partnership, a coalition of energy companies committed to supporting the Permian Basin community.

The University of Texas Permian Basin's new scholarship program is a significant investment in nursing education and healthcare workforce development. By covering tuition and fees for eligible students, the program encourages more individuals to pursue careers in these critical fields, ultimately benefiting the local community.
