USCIS Simplifies Social Security Number Requests for Citizenship Applicants

Starting April 1, 2024, noncitizens applying for U.S. citizenship will have a new option. They can request an original or replacement Social Security number and card directly through the naturalization application process, without visiting a Social Security office.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced this new system. It will be available with the 4/01/2024 version of Form N-400. Applicants can make the request when filing for naturalization. This change aims to streamline the process and reduce the need for additional visits to government offices.

Currently, the search results do not identify a specific individual or team responsible for implementing this new system.
