Police Find Burglar at Informant's Home in North Hesse - Unusual Burglary: Two Arrested After Drinking Spree in Niedenstein
In an unusual turn of events, police in North Hesse's Schwalm-Eder-Kreis arrested two suspects following a reported break-in at a multi-family home in Niedenstein. The suspects, aged 20 and 38, were later released pending charges of suspected burglary.
The police operation began around 1:00 AM when a resident reported a break-in. Several patrol units from the Police Directorate Schwalm-Eder, under Police Headquarters North Hesse, surrounded the building. They discovered a broken window and a forced-open ground-floor apartment, but it's unclear if anything was taken.
Inside, they found two suspects who were not in the targeted apartment but in the informant's. Police seized burglary tools and an unidentified coin. One suspect was found to have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 2.53% after a breathalyzer test. It was also revealed that the three men knew each other and had been drinking together the night before. One suspect attempted to pressure the informant into making a false statement.
Despite the unusual circumstances, police successfully apprehended the suspects and gathered evidence, including burglary tools and an unidentified coin. The two suspects were later released pending charges, and investigations continue to determine if anything was taken from the forced-open apartment.
