Unknowns Throw Fist-Sized Rock from Highway Bridge - Unknowns Throw Fist-Sized Rock from Highway Bridge

A large rock was deliberately dropped onto a moving car from a highway overpass in Wiesbaden on Thursday evening. The incident, which occurred around 20:00 on December 18, 2025, left the vehicle damaged but its three young occupants unharmed. Police are now searching for witnesses to identify those responsible.

The attack took place on Autobahn 66, between the Wiesbaden-Frauenstein and Schierstein junctions. A fist-sized stone, weighing 1.5 kilograms, was thrown from the Freudenbergstraße overpass onto a dark BMW travelling below. The impact shattered the car’s windshield, sending the rock flying into the passenger compartment.

The rock landed in the lap of the front-seat passenger, but none of the three occupants—aged between 15 and 18—suffered injuries. The car’s built-in navigation screen partially absorbed the force, slowing the rock’s descent and reducing the severity of the impact. Authorities have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

The incident caused significant damage to the vehicle but no physical harm to those inside. Police continue to seek witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity near the overpass at the time. Anyone with details is asked to contact local law enforcement.
