Bomb Threat at North Station - Train Traffic Restricted - Unexploded bomb halts Odenwaldbahn trains near Darmstadt Nordbahnhof

A suspected unexploded bomb near Darmstadt Nordbahnhof has forced the closure of part of the Odenwaldbahn railway. Authorities have confirmed the risk, leading to immediate disruptions for passengers on the RB82 line.

The discovery of the suspected ordnance prompted a swift response. To prevent vibrations that could trigger an explosion, sections of the track through Darmstadt Nordbahnhof were shut down. As a result, trains on the RB82 line are now being rerouted via Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof.

The Landeskriminalamt (LKA) is overseeing the defusing process, with support from the ordnance disposal teams of the government presidiums. These measures have caused short-term timetable changes, including delays and some cancellations. Only the Odenwaldbahn, operated by Vias, is affected by the disruption.

Passengers on the RB82 line should expect continued delays until the situation is resolved. The closure remains in place while experts work to safely remove the unexploded device. Further updates will depend on the progress of the disposal operation.
