Müller served Hanau diligently for over two decades. Initially, from 1985 to 2001, he was a member of the municipal council. His commitment earned him the Hessian Certificate of Honor in 2001. From 2001 to 2007, he worked full-time as a city councilor, focusing on urban development. Throughout his career, Müller oversaw notable projects like the renovation of Wilhelmsbrücke and the Römerbad pool in Kesselstadt. He also represented Hanau in regional bodies beyond its borders.
