Ukrainian Students Find Hope and Solidarity in Hesse's Educational Exchange
A group of 12 Ukrainian students, aged between 16 and 18, recently visited the Hesse State Chancellery in Germany. The trip offered them a short break from the ongoing war while strengthening ties between their home country and the German state.
The visit was organised as part of a school partnership between Johanneum Gymnasium in Herborn and Lyceum 241 in Kyiv. This initiative falls under an OECD project aimed at fostering educational connections between German and Ukrainian schools.
State Minister Manfred Pentz personally welcomed the students. He highlighted the need for practical support for Ukraine and stressed the value of long-term relationships in education.
During their time at the Chancellery, the students toured the building and took part in discussions. They asked questions about daily life in Germany and shared their own experiences, openly talking about their hopes for the future.
The meeting helped build a sense of closeness between the young visitors and their hosts. It also served as a clear message of solidarity and encouragement to Ukrainian youth.
The visit reinforced the ongoing collaboration between Hesse and Ukraine in education. By empowering young people through such exchanges, the partnership aims to create lasting connections beyond the current crisis. The students returned home with renewed support and a stronger sense of international friendship.
