Two men arrested after brazen phone theft in Gießen
Two men, aged 26 and 43, have been arrested in connection with the theft of a woman's phone in Gießen. The incident was reported on January 31, and both suspects appeared before a magistrate the same day. They have since been remanded in custody while investigations continue. The case began when a 27-year-old woman filed a report at the Federal Police station in Gießen at 9:10 PM on January 31. She stated that her phone had been stolen. Security footage later revealed one man taking the device from her jacket pocket. A second man was also captured on camera, following the thief and glancing back to check if the victim had noticed.
Police already knew the suspects' identities and address. When officers searched their residence, they recovered the stolen phone along with other stolen property. Both men were arrested later that day. The judge ordered the two suspects to be held at Gießen Prison while the investigation proceeds. The recovered items, including the woman's phone, remain in police custody. No further details about the additional stolen property have been released.
