Two injured in dramatic A643 motorway crash near Wiesbaden

Two people were injured in a serious road accident on the A643 motorway near Wiesbaden on Thursday morning, November 6, 2025. The crash involved a VW Taigo and a VW Caddy, closing the motorway for several hours.

The incident occurred when a 60-year-old woman driving a VW Taigo attempted to merge lanes and collided with a 41-year-old man driving a VW Caddy. The impact caused the Taigo to flip and land upside down on the left lane, while the Caddy struck the outer guardrail. Both drivers were injured and required hospitalization.

Firefighters had to cut off the roof of the Caddy to safely extricate the 41-year-old driver. The A643 toward Mainz was completely closed for rescue and recovery operations. The roadway was reopened around 11 a.m. after both vehicles were towed away. Police estimate the property damage at a minimum of €47,000.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. A 61-year-old man who rushed to help at the accident site has not been identified or described in the available search results. The injured drivers are receiving medical treatment.
