Traffic Accident with Three Slightly Injured People in Hünfeld
A serious collision took place on Friday along State Road 3176 near Hünfeld. Three people suffered minor injuries after two cars crashed head-on. The incident led to a temporary road closure and significant vehicle damage.
The crash happened when a 53-year-old man from the Fulda district was driving his Audi from Michelsrombach towards Hünfeld. At the same time, a 74-year-old driver from the Vogelsberg district was heading in the opposite direction in a Škoda, accompanied by two passengers.
For reasons still under investigation, the Audi swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Škoda. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to spin before coming to rest on the road. Emergency services arrived quickly, but the Škoda’s occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals. The Audi driver escaped without harm. Commissioner Andreas Lunk is overseeing the police inquiry into the accident. Both cars were declared total write-offs, with combined damage estimated at €25,000. Authorities closed the road for two hours to clear the scene and conduct their investigation.
The injured passengers received medical treatment, while the Audi driver faced no physical harm. The road reopened once recovery and examination work finished. Police continue to examine the circumstances that led to the crash.
