Toxic engine block illegally dumped near San Antonio sparks police probe

An old engine block filled with oil and fuel was illegally dumped in a forest between Rodgau and San Antonio. The discovery was made on Friday, November 28, 2025, by workers clearing a drainage ditch. Authorities have now launched an investigation into the incident.

The contaminated engine was found around 3 p.m. by a maintenance crew working in the area. Police were alerted, and the fire department was called in to help. Their teams excavated the polluted soil and placed it in a secure container for disposal.

The recovery and clean-up operation lasted several hours. Officials estimate the total cost of the operation will run into thousands of euros. Meanwhile, the criminal investigation unit is working to identify who dumped the engine and how it was transported to the site.

Police have asked for public assistance in the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact investigators on 069 8098-1234.

The illegal dumping has left authorities with a costly clean-up and an ongoing investigation. Witnesses or those with relevant details are being encouraged to come forward. The case remains open as police gather more evidence.
