Top Interior Department official Tyler Hassen exits government role

Tyler Hassen, a former senior official at the Interior Department, has taken a new job outside the government. His departure this month follows months of uncertainty about his role within the agency.

Hassen held multiple high-level positions at Interior, including acting assistant secretary for policy, management and budget, as well as senior adviser. However, his future at the department had been unclear for some time, with expectations that he would leave over the summer.

Hassen’s move to a role outside government concludes his time at Interior. The department has not announced any plans for filling the vacated position. His departure leaves questions about the future leadership of key consolidation initiatives.
