Three Women Find Home in Hünfeld: Stories of Integration and Belonging
Three women from different countries shared their experiences of settling in Hünfeld, each with unique backgrounds and paths. Despite bureaucratic hurdles, they found mutual respect among locals and a sense of belonging within a few years. The event, co-hosted by the Konrad Zuse Museum and the Pro Integration association (PIT), was part of their '...and in the Evening, to the Museum' series. The women praised the beauty of Haselsee Lake and charming spots in the town center, and had nothing but praise for the mayor of Hünfeld, Benjamin Tschesnok. Wansa Hamchou, originally from Syria, organized a neighborhood festival in Hünfeld that was a huge success. Kind, helpful people, language courses, and daily routines helped the women make Germany feel like a second home. Despite their long journeys through multiple countries, they now feel completely at home in Hünfeld. The event drew a large crowd, with not enough chairs to accommodate everyone, highlighting the interest in these inspiring stories. The women's experiences showcase how mutual respect and support can help newcomers build new lives and feel at home in a community.
