Three men arrested after high-voltage cable heist in Germany

Three men were provisionally arrested in Bad Hersfeld early on Monday, December 22, 2025, following a suspected burglary. The incident began when police responded to a break-in at a commercial property in nearby Heringen. Officers later discovered an abandoned vehicle loaded with stolen high-voltage cables worth around €10,000.

The burglary was first reported at approximately 2:10 a.m. in Apothekerstraße, Heringen. When police arrived, three individuals fled on foot into a neighbouring allotment garden area. A search involving a police dog and thermal imaging equipment initially failed to locate the suspects.

At around 4:40 a.m., officers spotted and detained three men—aged 30, 43, and 54—on In der Aue street in Bad Hersfeld. The suspects were taken into custody at the local police station on suspicion of aggravated theft. After consulting with the Fulda public prosecutor’s office and completing necessary procedures, the men were released. They now face formal charges in connection with the incident.

The investigation continues after the discovery of the stolen cables and the suspects’ temporary detention. Authorities have not released further details about the men’s identities or the ongoing legal process. The case remains under active review by the Fulda public prosecutor’s office.
