Thieves target A5 motorway truck stop, steal €150 ram in overnight raid

A truck stop near the A5 motorway in Atzenhain was hit by thieves earlier this month. Between February 5 and 6, unknown individuals broke into several trailers parked along Gottesrain street. The incident left behind damaged property and a stolen ram worth around €150.

Five trailers were targeted during the break-in. Three had their rear doors forced open, while two others suffered slashed tarps. Despite the damage, only one item—a ram valued at approximately €150—was taken from one of the trailers. The full cost of the property damage remains unclear.

This wasn't the only recent incident in the area. Just days earlier, between February 4 and 5, perpetrators also struck at the Pfefferhöhe rest area. There, they pried open the rear door of a semi-trailer but left empty-handed.

Local police have noted that no similar thefts or vandalism at truck stops or rest areas have been reported in the Vogelsbergkreis region over the past year. The Atzenhain case appears to be an isolated event so far.

Authorities are investigating the break-ins, though no suspects have been identified yet. The incidents have raised concerns about security at truck stops along the A5 motorway. Police continue to monitor the situation for any further activity.
