Thieves siphon 180 litres of used cooking oil from a fast-food restaurant

Thieves stole around 180 litres of used cooking oil from a fast-food restaurant in Bischofsheim in the early hours of February 12. The incident caused several hundred euros in damages and left police questioning how the oil was taken away.

The theft took place near 'Am Schindberg' at about 3 a.m. The perpetrators forced open a gate before using a pump to siphon off the frying oil. Authorities are now examining how the stolen liquid was transported from the scene.

In recent years, stolen used cooking oil in the Bischofsheim area has often been dumped illegally into drains or sold on black markets. Police reports from 2023 to 2025 show that such oil is frequently repurposed as biodiesel or animal feed.

The restaurant now faces financial losses from the stolen oil and the resulting damage. Police continue to investigate the theft, focusing on how the thieves managed to remove such a large quantity of liquid without detection.
