Thieves flee after finding kiwis in a truck heist near Wiesbaden

A semi-truck was broken into at the Medenbach-Ost rest area on the A3 highway near Wiesbaden on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The incident occurred at 10:20 AM, with unknown perpetrators targeting the parked vehicle. Police are now investigating the unusual case.

The thieves opened the trailer of the truck, which was facing toward Cologne. Inside, they discovered a cargo of kiwis—an unexpected find that led them to abandon their plan. It remains unclear whether they also attempted to siphon diesel from the refrigeration unit.

The break-in left no significant damage beyond the stolen fuel cap. Police continue to search for leads in the case. The incident highlights the risks faced by parked freight vehicles, even when carrying perishable goods.
