Thief Falls Through Ceiling Twice in Arcade - Thief’s botched escape leaves arcade in ruins after two ceiling crashes
A suspected thief caused chaos at a gaming arcade in Schöneck, Hessen, after two dramatic falls through the ceiling. The man, who had stolen cash from the premises, tried to escape through the suspended ceiling but ended up trapped inside the building. Despite the commotion, he only suffered minor injuries.
The incident began when the suspect hid inside the arcade before closing time. Once alone, he took the day’s takings from the cash register. With the doors locked, he attempted to flee by climbing into the ceiling cavity and onto the roof.
His first fall came as he moved through the ceiling space. The weight of his movement caused sections of the suspended ceiling to collapse, leaving a trail of damage. Instead of giving up, he climbed back into the cavity and remained hidden until the next afternoon.
Hours later, he fell through the ceiling a second time. This time, staff discovered him trapped inside the arcade and immediately called emergency services. Police arrived shortly after and arrested the suspect.
The total damage from both falls is estimated to run into thousands of euros.
The man was taken into custody following his failed cash app attempt. While the arcade suffered extensive structural damage, the suspect walked away with only minor injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
