Thief steals cake slices but leaves €2,000 in damage at Wiesbaden café

A café in Wiesbaden's Erbenheim district was broken into late on Friday night. The thief took only a few slices of cake but caused around €2,000 in damage. Police are now asking for witnesses to come forward.

The break-in happened at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Wandersmannstraße. The suspect smashed the café's window using a heavy manhole cover. Once inside, they grabbed several slices of cake from the counter before fleeing.

This appears to be an isolated incident. No other café or bakery thefts have been reported in Wiesbaden over the past year. The only recent case involved a queerphobic attack at a bakery in November 2025, though no theft occurred then.

The total damage from the broken window and other repairs is estimated at €2,000. Anyone with information is urged to contact Wiesbaden Criminal Police on (0611) 345-0. The investigation remains ongoing.
