Texas Health Resources Launches First Dallas ISD Healthy Hub at Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary
Texas Health Resources, a faith-based nonprofit health system, has launched its first Dallas ISD-based Good For You Healthy Hub at Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School. The hub serves around 70 to 150 families, providing no-cost fresh produce and other healthy staples, along with additional resources like recipe cards and nutrition workshops.
The hub is part of Texas Health's commitment to caring for patients in 16 counties and over 8 million people. It is supported by a five-year grant from TDIndustries and a donation from the Jack Lowe family, honoring the legacy of Jack Lowe Sr. who helped integrate Dallas ISD in the 1970s.
The school has also benefited from other Texas Health initiatives, such as a playground refurbishment and a learning garden. The Good For You Healthy Hub program, led by Texas Health Community Hope, has distributed nearly 1.27 million pounds of produce since 2020.
The hub's success is a testament to Texas Health's extensive resources, with 29 hospital locations, over 4,400 licensed hospital beds, and nearly 29,000 employees. TDIndustries and the Lowe family have committed to continued financial support for the next five years, ensuring the hub's sustainability and positive impact on the community.
