Tatort Bridge - Young Men Convicted for Attempted Murder - Teenagers convicted of attempted murder after hurling objects onto motorway

Three young men have been convicted of attempted murder after throwing heavy objects onto a motorway from a bridge. The Marburg Regional Court handed down sentences ranging from three to three years and nine months. The defendants admitted they knew their actions could have deadly consequences.

The incident took place in May 2025 on the A49 motorway near Stadtallendorf. The trio hurled rocks and a guardrail post from an overhead bridge onto passing vehicles below. Though no cars were struck or damaged, the court ruled that the risk of fatal accidents was clear.

During the trial, the defendants acknowledged their actions and showed no concern for the potential harm. The court stated that even a small child could have understood the danger. All three had been held in pretrial detention, which will now count toward their sentences.

The 15-year-old and 18-year-old received three-year and nine-month juvenile sentences, while the 17-year-old was given three years. Both the prosecution and defence agreed not to appeal, making the verdict final.

The case has now concluded with all three defendants sentenced for attempted murder and endangering road traffic. Their pretrial detention time will reduce the length of their imprisonment. The court's decision confirms the severity of their actions, despite no cars being hit.
