After a Chase: 18-Year-Old Car Thief Arrested - Teen drivers arrested after wild stolen car chase ends in a field
An 18-year-old driver and his 16-year-old passenger were arrested in Wiesbaden after leading police on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the stolen car became trapped in a field, forcing both occupants to flee on foot before being caught. Authorities suspect the driver of multiple offences, including vehicle theft and dangerous driving.
The incident began when police tried to stop the car for inspection, but the driver accelerated away instead. Officers pursued the vehicle as it sped through Wiesbaden, repeatedly ignoring signals to pull over. During the chase, the driver exceeded speed limits and drove recklessly.
The car was later found stuck in a field, where the driver and passenger abandoned it and attempted to escape. Both were quickly apprehended by police. Investigations revealed the vehicle had been stolen from a Park and Ride lot on Bahnstraße in Erkrath, likely between Wednesday, December 17, and Friday, December 19. The 18-year-old now faces charges for vehicle theft, dangerous interference with road traffic, and involvement in an illegal street race. The owner had tracked the car and reported its location to police before the chase began.
The stolen car has been recovered, and the two suspects remain in custody. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the theft and the subsequent pursuit. The driver’s actions have led to multiple serious charges, with further legal proceedings expected.
